BOGONG MOUNTAIN CATTLEMEN'S HERITAGE WEEKEND

The Mountain Cattlemen’s Association of Victoria (MCAV) is determined that the history and heritage of the Mountain Cattlemen will not be lost following the removal of grazing from the Alpine National park.
It has decided to support and promote various gatherings to assist those families involved to remember and preserve their individual history. Coupled with that, is the important preservation of the history of the runs and huts.
To that end, last year a gathering was held at “Bennies” to commemorate Frank Ryan, his run and his mates.  This was combined with a ride into the Ryan run in the Upper Dandongadale River.

This year, on the March Long weekend (5/3 to 8/3) a gathering to celebrate the history and heritage of the Bogong Cattlemen will be held on the Bogong High Plains.  People attending will meet to camp at the Pretty Valley yards, near Falls Creek, for the weekend.
